Chapter 10 - THE GOLDEN LIGHT (THE END)One year later. Early summer.

The grand lawn of the Starks estate was transformed into a paradise of white roses, silver lanterns, and soft classical music.

Over three hundred guests had gathered—dock workers, corporate executives, police chiefs, doctors, and friends from all across the state.

At the altar overlooking the Atlantic Ocean stood Rory Starks, looking dashing in a black tuxedo, flanked by Toby as his best man and Brant as his chief usher.

The music shifted to a sweeping, romantic string symphony.

Walking down the rose-petal aisle were eight-year-old Lily and Rose, wearing matching white dresses and flower crowns, strewing pink rose petals onto the runner with radiant smiles.

And then came the bride.

Maya walked down the aisle on the arm of her proud father. She wore an ethereal ivory lace gown with a long, flowing train, a delicate diamond tiara resting in her dark hair, holding a bouquet of white peonies and lavender.

She looked radiant, powerful, and utterly breathtaking.

When she reached the altar, Rory took her hand, his eyes filled with such intense, devotion that several guests in the front row wept openly.

"We are gathered here today," the officiant began, "to unite two souls who proved that love is stronger than any darkness..."

The vows were spoken—promises of protection, endless love, shared laughter, and a future built on truth and devotion.

"By the authority vested in me," the officiant announced, "I now pronounce you husband and wife. Rory, you may kiss your bride."

Rory pulled Maya into his arms, dipping her low as he kissed her deeply, to a thunderous, roaring ovation from the entire crowd.

Lily and Rose cheered loudly, throwing flower petals into the air, while Zeus—their new golden retriever therapy dog—let out a joyous bark beside the altar.

Later that evening, as the moon rose high over the sea, casting a silver path across the water, a magnificent fireworks display exploded over the bay—bursts of gold, sapphire, and emerald lighting up the night sky.

Maya stood on the wrap-around porch of the main house, leaning against the railing, holding a glass of sparkling cider.

Rory walked up behind her, wrapping his arms tightly around her waist, resting his chin on her shoulder.

"What are you thinking about, Mrs. Starks?" Rory asked softly into her ear.

Maya looked out at the lawn where Lily, Rose, and Toby were dancing under the string lights, their laughter ringing like sweet bells across the ocean breeze.

She looked down at her wedding ring, shining brightly in the moonlight, and then leaned back against her husband’s broad, warm chest.

"I’m thinking about the monster in the teddy bear," Maya whispered softly.

Rory tightened his grip around her, kissing her neck softly. "The monster is dead, my love. And it's never coming back."

"I know," Maya smiled, turning around in his arms, wrapping her hands behind his neck, looking up into the dark, loving eyes of the man who ruled her heart. "Because the sun is finally home."

Rory leaned down and kissed her again—a long, sweet kiss filled with the promise of a thousand peaceful tomorrows—as the golden fireworks continued to shower the night sky above their sanctuary.

The nightmare was destroyed. The darkness was vanquished.

And in the warm, golden light of love, their family was finally, forever whole.
