Chapter 5 - ReckoningBy nightfall, the Duca estate was surrounded by federal agents and trusted loyalists who remained untainted by Marco’s corruption.

In the master study, the full truth was unveiled. The papers Emma had used for her drawing were part of a hidden paper ledger that detailed fifteen years of Marco Rossi’s shadow empire. Marco had not only embezzled hundreds of millions of dollars from the Duca family, but he had also systematically orchestrated the deaths of anyone who got close to discovering his network—including Lorenzo’s father and his wife, Isabella.
Bound to a chair in the secondary basement, Marco stared up as Lorenzo walked into the room, accompanied by Federal Agent Miller.
"It's over, Marco," Lorenzo said quietly, throwing a massive stack of recovered financial records onto the table. "Every account. Every wire transfer. Every hit order you wrote. Emma found the key box."
Marco let out a dry, bitter laugh. "A maid's child... ruined fifteen years of work... because she wanted a daddy for a fall festival."
"No," Lorenzo corrected him, stepping close to Marco. "You were ruined because you thought love was a weakness. You thought Isabella was weak. You thought I was weak. And you thought a child was worthless. That was your mistake."
Agent Miller stepped forward, snapping heavy steel handcuffs around Marco’s wrists. "Marco Rossi, you are under arrest for federal racketeering, conspiracy to commit murder, and the homicides of Isabella Duca and Don Carmine Duca."

As Marco was dragged out into the dark night toward a convoy of federal vehicles, he looked back at Lorenzo one last time. Lorenzo did not look at him with hatred, but with absolute pity.
With Marco, Bianchi, and Falcone’s leadership neutralized by federal indictments backed by the unassailable paper trail, the violence that had plagued the New York underbelly for decades was effectively dismantled. Lorenzo used the momentum to dissolve the family's illegal operations entirely, transferring all assets into legitimate real estate, global shipping, and charitable foundations—fulfilling the dream Isabella had held three years prior.
