Chapter 6 - A New Beginning

One year later.

The grand cathedral in the heart of the city was illuminated by thousands of soft, golden candles. The air was filled with the scent of fresh white roses and the sweet, melodic chords of a string quartet echoing through the vaulted ceiling.

The pews were filled with an extraordinary crowd—powerful business leaders, city officials, local community members, and reformed figures from the city's network, all gathered in silent, respectful celebration.

At the altar stood Julian Vance.

He looked breathtakingly handsome in a tailored black tuxedo, his hair immaculately groomed, his posture regal and proud. Beside him stood Marcus, serving as his best man, and on a small satin pillow held by a smiling security guard sat fourteen-month-old Noah, wearing a tiny matching tuxedo, happily babbling to himself.

The heavy wooden doors of the cathedral opened.

The crowd gasped softly as Savannah appeared at the end of the aisle.

She was breathtaking. Her gown was a masterpiece of delicate white lace and flowing silk that trailed behind her like a cloud. Her dark hair was styled in soft waves, crowned with a subtle diamond tiara. But what truly captivated everyone in the room was the radiant, incandescent joy shining in her eyes.

She walked down the aisle, her eyes locked entirely on Julian.

As she reached the altar, Julian stepped down to offer her his hand. His touch was warm, solid, and steady—the anchor she had searched for her entire life.

"You look stunning," Julian whispered, his voice thick with emotion.

"You don't look so bad yourself, Mr. Vance," Savannah teased softly, a brilliant smile lighting up her face.

The priest began the ceremony, his words echoing warmly through the sacred hall. When the time came for the vows, Julian turned to face Savannah, holding both of her hands in his.

"Savannah," Julian spoke, his deep baritone filling the cathedral with absolute sincerity. "A year ago, a single text message arrived on my phone by mistake. I was a man living in darkness, believing that power was the only thing worth fighting for. But when I walked into your apartment that night, you showed me what true strength looks like. You gave me a family. You gave me a heart. I promise to spend the rest of my life protecting you, loving you, and honoring the home we have built together. Everything I am, and everything I own, belongs to you."

Savannah smiled through tears of pure happiness, squeezing his hands.

"Julian," she said, her voice steady and clear. "I spent so long believing I was alone in the world, fighting a losing battle against the dark. You didn't just save my son's life that night—you showed me that love isn't a weakness, but the greatest power there is. You are Noah’s father in every way that counts, and you are the love of my life. I choose you, today and forever."

"By the power vested in me," the priest announced with a warm smile, "I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."

Julian didn't hesitate. He pulled Savannah into his arms, dipping her slightly as he pressed his lips to hers in a deep, sweeping kiss that brought the entire cathedral to its feet in thunderous applause.

Noah let out a happy giggle from his cushion, clapping his tiny hands together.

Later that evening, the reception was held at the fully restored, lit-up estate overlooking the bay. Music, laughter, and celebration filled the night air.

Late into the night, away from the dancing crowd, Julian and Savannah walked out onto the private balcony where they had stood a year ago. The night was clear, the sky filled with thousands of bright, twinkling stars reflecting on the calm ocean below.

Julian stood behind Savannah, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her back against his chest. She leaned into his warmth, holding a glass of champagne, watching Noah sleep peacefully in his stroller nearby under the watchful, affectionate eye of Marcus.

"What are you thinking about, Mrs. Vance?" Julian whispered into her ear, resting his chin on her shoulder.

Savannah looked up at the stars, a deep sense of peace washing over her heart.

"I was just thinking about that text message," Savannah said softly, turning her head to kiss his cheek. "About how frightened I was when I realized I had messaged a complete stranger... and how that one mistake brought me the greatest man in the world."

Julian smiled, tightening his hold around her, looking out at the bright horizon of their future together.

"It wasn't a mistake, Savannah," Julian whispered softly into the night. "It was the best wrong number ever sent."
