Chapter 5 - The Eviction Notice

"You can't do this!" Vivian howled, her voice echoing down the wealthy suburban street. Neighbors were already opening their front doors, peering over their manicured hedges to watch the high-society Harringtons collapse on the driveway. "This is my son's house! He is on the deed!"

"He was on the conditional occupancy agreement," Clara corrected smoothly, pulling a secondary document from her briefcase. "An agreement that required him to maintain a safe environment for the primary trust holder—Grace. The moment he turned that deadbolt, he violated the core clause of the trust. As of sixty seconds ago, you are both legally trespassing on private corporate property."

"Grace, please!" Ethan sobbed, falling to his knees right there on the welcome mat, completely stripped of his manhood. He grabbed at the hem of my trousers, his face covered in sweat and tears. "I’ll do anything! I’ll kick my mother out! I’ll never speak to her again! Just don't destroy my life! I have nowhere else to go!"

"Ethan! How dare you!" Vivian screamed, slapping his shoulder in a frenzy of rage and betrayal. "I am your mother! I raised you!"

"And you raised a monster, Vivian," I said, looking down at the two of them with deep, cold disgust. "You both stood over a pregnant woman and decided that a beach vacation was worth more than a human life. Now, you can enjoy the consequences."

I looked at the lead security officer. "Remove them from my property. If they step foot past the sidewalk, have the police arrest them for criminal trespass and felony harassment."

"Yes, Director," the guard nodded.

The two officers stepped forward, effortlessly grabbing Ethan by his arms and lifting him off his knees. They dragged him down the stone steps, throwing his expensive, bloated suitcases onto the curb behind him. Vivian screamed, trying to claw at the guards' faces, but she was firmly pushed backward until she stumbled over her own designer shopping bags, landing flat on her backside in the dirt of my pristine front lawn.

"Grace! You won't get away with this!" Vivian shrieked from the grass, her straw hat crushed beneath her, her expensive linen dress stained with mud. "I will sue you for everything you have! I will ruin your name!"

"Good luck finding an attorney who takes cases for free, Vivian," I shouted down to her from the top of the grand steps. "Because your credit cards were tied to my corporate account. And I just called for a full forensic audit. The five hundred thousand dollars you embezzled from my family trust over the last three years? The police are already drafting the warrant for your arrest."

Vivian’s breath hitched. She froze, her eyes widening in absolute terror as she realized the true depth of the trap she had walked into.

I turned my back on them, walking back into the bright, beautiful warmth of my home. The heavy electronic door slid shut behind me with a solid, definitive click.

The deadbolts were locked again. But this time, the monsters were on the outside.
