CHAPTER 3 — THE NURSE WHO COULDN'T STAY SILENT 😱🏥📂
By evening, police officers filled the hospital.
Administrators hurried through hallways.
Lawyers arrived.
Reporters gathered outside.
And then a young nurse named Rebecca asked to speak privately.
She looked terrified.
"I tried to stop it."
The detective leaned forward.
"What do you mean?"
Tears filled her eyes.
Rebecca explained that Violet had been born alive.
Weak.
Fragile.
Different from what Garrett's family expected.
But alive.
A senior administrator had ordered staff to move the infant without proper documentation.
Several records were altered.
Some files disappeared.
Rebecca had objected.
She had been threatened with losing her job.
"I was scared," she whispered.
"But when I saw that little boy save his sister..."
She looked toward Quincy.
"...I couldn't stay quiet anymore."
The detective requested every security recording from the hospital.
Within hours, footage began surfacing.
Hallway cameras.
Loading dock cameras.
Storage room cameras.
One recording changed everything.
The screen showed Naomi speaking to a hospital employee.
Money exchanged hands.
Not a lot.
Just enough.
Enough to turn a human life into paperwork.
Enough to make people look away.
Enough to create a lie.
The detective stopped the video.
Then looked directly at Garrett.
"Would you like to explain this?"
Garrett didn't answer.
Because for the first time in his life, his mother wasn't protecting him.
And he wasn't protecting her.
Both of them were trapped by the truth.
Meanwhile, upstairs in intensive care, Violet opened her eyes.
For the first time.
And when I held her tiny hand, I made a promise.
No one would ever hurt her again.
