CHAPTER 2 — THE NOTEBOOK THAT EXPOSED EVERYTHING 😱📓⚖️
The emergency room exploded into motion.
Doctors rushed toward Violet.
A nurse carefully lifted the tiny infant from my arms.
"She's alive!" someone shouted.
"Get NICU down here now!"
The room that had been telling me my daughter was dead only minutes earlier suddenly looked terrified.
Garrett stood frozen.
Naomi's Bible slipped from her hands and hit the floor.
Then Quincy stepped forward.
His small hands trembled as he held up the spiral notebook.
"I wrote everything down."
Nobody spoke.
The notebook looked ordinary.
Bent corners.
Blue cover.
A child's handwriting.
But Quincy clutched it like evidence.
"What is that?" Garrett asked.
His voice sounded strained.
Quincy stared at him.
"The things you did."
Garrett's face went pale.
The room became silent again.
Quincy opened the notebook.
Every page contained dates.
Times.
Conversations.
Names.
For three years, he had secretly written down everything adults said when they thought he wasn't listening.
Every argument.
Every lie.
Every strange meeting.
Every mention of his baby sister.
Every mention of Violet.
A detective would later call it one of the most important pieces of evidence he had ever seen.
One page made my blood run cold.
Daddy said Grandma knows how to make problems disappear.
Another.
Grandma said some babies are mistakes.
Another.
Daddy told the doctor nobody would ask questions.
The notebook slipped from my fingers.
Garrett lunged forward.
"Give me that!"
A security officer immediately blocked him.
For the first time, people weren't listening to Garrett.
They were watching him.
A doctor stepped away from Violet's treatment area.
His expression was furious.
"Who authorized that child to be listed as deceased?"
Nobody answered.
The question echoed through the room.
Then one nurse began crying.
And everyone realized the truth was starting to unravel.
