Chapter 6 - A New Castle

A year later, the sun rose over the East Coast, casting a warm, golden light across the manicured gardens of the Moretti estate. The glass from the broken windows had long been replaced, and the dark, watery shadows of that rainy night were nothing but a distant memory.
The grand ballroom was open once again, but today, there were no politicians, no corrupt judges, and no white silk lies.
The lawn was covered in white tents, blooming roses, and the sound of children laughing.
Emma, now four years old and glowing with health, was running through the grass in a beautiful yellow dress, chasing a golden retriever puppy Alessandro had bought her for her birthday.
I stood on the terrace, wearing a simple, breathtaking ivory gown. I looked down at my hand, where a stunning emerald ring—an heirloom of the Moretti family—sparkled in the sunlight.
A pair of strong arms wrapped around my waist from behind. Alessandro pressed a warm kiss to my shoulder, his chin resting against my neck as we watched Emma play.
"She’s getting fast," Alessandro laughed softly. "I might have to hire more security just to keep up with her."
"She has your energy," I smiled, leaning back against his chest, feeling safer than I ever had in my life. "She thinks she owns the entire estate now."
"She does," Alessandro murmured, his voice full of warmth and absolute devotion. "And so do you, my beautiful wife."
Emma ran up the stone steps of the terrace, her small face flushed with excitement. She stopped in front of us, pointing toward the living room closet inside.
"Mama! Daddy!" she giggled. "I put my new teddy bear in the closet! But it's not a secret. I told everyone!"
Alessandro laughed, picking her up in his arms and tossing her into the air as she squealed with delight.

"No more secrets in this house, princess," Alessandro smiled, looking at me with eyes full of a love that had rebuilt my broken world. "From now on, we only tell the truth."
We stood together under the warm afternoon sun—a maid, a mafia boss, and a brave little girl who had pointed her finger at a lie and accidentally built a kingdom of love.
