Chapter 5 - The Return to the Grand Monarch

Six months later.

The Grand Monarch Hotel was once again bathed in the warm, glittering light of a high-society event. But tonight, the banners outside didn't read The Carter Foundation. They bore the sleek, powerful logo of Moretti Global Enterprises.

The ballroom was packed with the most influential figures in the country—senators, billionaires, and global executives. And at the center of it all was me. I wore a breathtaking, midnight-blue silk gown, my hair styled in elegant waves, radiating the commanding presence of a woman who had completely reclaimed her destiny.

As I finished my opening address, the crowd erupted into a thunderous standing ovation. I stepped down from the podium, greeting our international investors with a practiced, easy grace.

"An absolute triumph, Julianne," Vincent said, stepping out from the crowd to join me. He looked distinguished, his black tuxedo immaculate, his presence still demanding a natural perimeter of respect from everyone in the room.

"We raised twice our projection tonight," I smiled, raising my glass of champagne to him.

Suddenly, a commotion near the service entrance caught our attention. The security guards were blocking a disheveled man and a weeping woman from entering the main floor.

It was Ryan and Chloe.

Ryan’s logistics company had gone bankrupt, and his criminal trial was set to begin next month. He looked hollowed out, wearing a cheap, ill-fitting blazer. Chloe’s hair was messy, her eyes bloodshot as she clutched a worn-out handbag. They had snuck through the back alley, desperate to beg for mercy.

"Julianne! Please!" Ryan yelled through the barrier, his voice cracked with humiliation. "Just tell Moretti to drop the civil lawsuits! We have nothing left! They're taking our apartment!"

"Julianne, I'm your sister!" Chloe sobbed, reaching her hand out through the security line. "You can't do this to your own blood!"
