Within three weeks, Gero’s partners at Müller & Associates officially forced him out of the firm, citing moral turpitude clauses in the partnership agreement. The lucrative municipal contracts he had spent years securing were canceled or reassigned to competitors.
On social media and local news portals, the story went viral. The image of the wealthy, polished executive exposed as a monster by a nursery camera became a national symbol of the hidden epidemic of domestic violence. The contrast between Gero’s public arrogance and the quiet, military precision of Oberstleutnant Thomas Brand’s defense of his daughter resonated with millions.
Gero tried to hide in a luxury apartment near the city center, but his name had become synonymous with cowardice. Every time he stepped out, he was met with the cold, judgmental glares of neighbors and former associates.
One rainy evening in late February, Gero sat in the dark of his rented living room, surrounded by empty wine bottles. His phone buzzed on the glass coffee table.
