Chapter 3 - The Interrogation in the Dark

Deep beneath the mansion, the air smelled of concrete, damp earth, and ozone.

Victor sat chained to a heavy steel chair bolted to the floor of the interrogation suite. His arrogant sneer was gone, replaced by the hollow, sweating panic of a man who realized he had kicked a sleeping dragon.

The heavy steel door swung open with a loud, echoing clank.

Adrian walked in alone, rolling up the sleeves of his crisp white dress shirt. He didn't carry a weapon. He didn't need one. His presence alone filled the concrete room with an unbearable, suffocating weight.

"Vince," Adrian said calmly, pulling up a metal stool and sitting down directly opposite the prisoner.

"You can't do this!" Victor spat, straining against his cuffs. "I have rights! I want a lawyer! You're a CEO, Hale, not a executioner!"

Adrian chuckled softly—a dry, humorless sound. "A CEO by day, Victor. But right down here, outside the jurisdiction of Wall Street and boardrooms? I am the man who cleans up trash."

Adrian leaned forward, resting his forearms on his knees. "Let's talk about the syndicate accounts in the Cayman Islands. Let's talk about the ledger Maria copied before she fled. You're going to give me the private encryption keys, the names of every corrupt official on your payroll, and the signature of your primary superior."

"Go to hell," Victor snarled, spitting blood onto the concrete floor. "You think you're untouchable because you have money? My bosses will—"

Before Victor could finish his sentence, Adrian stood up with lightning speed. He didn't strike him with his fists; instead, he slammed his palm onto the steel table with a force that made the entire room ring like a church bell, grabbing Victor by the collar and dragging him forward until their noses were inches apart.

"Your bosses," Adrian murmured, his voice deadly and quiet, "are currently being paid a visit by three tactical units funded by my personal portfolio. By midnight, your syndicate will be dismantled, your assets seized, and your accounts frozen. You have exactly ten seconds to decide whether you want to spend the rest of your natural life in a supermax prison... or disappear into a hole where even your mother won't find your bones."

Victor stared into Adrian’s eyes—eyes completely devoid of mercy, burning with the cold fire of an apex predator.

The enforcer swallowed hard, his bravado entirely shattered. "Okay... okay! I’ll talk! Just don't let him back in here!"
