Chapter 7 - The Trial of the Meridian Seven

The trial of Daniel Sterling, Dr. Julian Ward, and the seven corporate directors of the Meridian Council became the most heavily publicized federal prosecution of the decade.

Claire took the stand on the fourth day of the trial. Her testimony was clear, methodical, and devastating. She presented the original chemical research papers, the intercepted emails detailing the plot to induce her clinical death, and the financial paper trail connecting the conspirators to offshore assassination accounts.

Noah followed her to the witness stand, explaining the biochemical mechanisms of Somnodine-7 and demonstrating how the drug was weaponized to simulate terminal cardiac arrest.

The defense crumbled under the overwhelming weight of digital and physical evidence.

On a cold Friday morning in December, the federal jury returned with a unanimous verdict on all sixty-eight counts, including Attempted Capital Murder, Treasonous Corporate Espionage, Chemical Weapons Trafficking, and Conspiracy to Defraud the United States Government.

Judge Eleanor Vance delivered the sentences without leniency:

Daniel Sterling was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole at ADX Florence.

Dr. Julian Ward received twenty-five years for aggravated medical malpractice and conspiracy to commit murder.
