Chapter 6 - A True Celebration

One year later.
The grand garden of the Carter Estate in Belle Meade was bathed in the warm, golden light of a perfect summer afternoon.
Unlike the cold, sterile engagement party of the past, this gathering was filled with laughter, vibrant music, and a deep sense of genuine joy. The guest list didn't consist of superficial socialites and business associates looking to make deals. Instead, the tables were filled with close friends, family, staff members from the foundation, and people whose lives had been genuinely touched by the Carters’ work.
Lucas, now a confident, successful director at the Carter Foundation, stood near the buffet, laughing with several guests.
Underneath a magnificent oak tree, a simple, elegant wooden arch was decorated with wild, colorful sunflowers and white roses.
Ethan stood under the arch, dressed in a classic grey suit. He looked incredibly handsome, but more importantly, he looked truly happy. His eyes were fixed on the mansion doors, waiting with bated breath.
Beside him stood Eleanor Carter. She wore a simple, beautiful cream lace dress, her silver hair styled elegantly, her face radiant with a mother's pride. She gently squeezed her son’s hand.
"Are you nervous?" Eleanor whispered with a soft smile.
"A little," Ethan admitted, looking down at his mother. "But mostly... I just feel incredibly lucky."
"You are, my boy," Eleanor said warmly. "Because today, you are marrying a woman who truly belongs in our family."
The classical violin music softened, transitioning into a beautiful, gentle melody. The guests stood up, turning their heads toward the mansion doors.
Clara appeared, walking down the aisle. She wore a simple, breathtaking vintage lace wedding gown. She carried a bouquet of sunflowers, her hazel eyes shining with happy tears as she locked gaze with Ethan. There was no arrogance in her stride, no coldness in her smile—only pure, unadulterated love and a beautiful, gentle spirit that warmed everyone in the garden.
As Clara reached the arch, Ethan took her hands in his, his heart overflowing with a deep, profound gratitude.
"You look beautiful," Ethan whispered.
"I love you," Clara replied softly, her smile radiant.
The minister began the ceremony, his voice carrying over the peaceful garden. Eleanor watched her son and her new daughter-in-law exchange their vows, her eyes glistening with tears of joy.
She looked up at the beautiful blue sky, feeling a deep sense of peace. The storm had passed, the lessons had been learned, and justice had been served. But most importantly, her son had found true, genuine love.
As Ethan and Clara were pronounced husband and wife, the garden erupted into a loud, joyous cheer. Ethan drew Clara close, kissing her deeply as the guests clapped and celebrated.
