Three Years Later.
The sun shone brightly over the grand lawns of the Sterling estate in Greenwich. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming hydrangeas and the unmistakable, beautiful sound of children's laughter.
Three identical three-year-old boys—Leo, Arthur, and Henry—were running through the grass, chasing a golden retriever puppy. They were healthy, strong, and bursting with life, their eyes bright with the absolute security of children who knew they were loved.
I stood on the stone patio, holding a glass of iced tea, watching them with a deep, radiant smile. My body had healed, my strength had returned tenfold, and the woman who had been broken open in that hospital room was now the CEO of one of the fastest-growing logistics conglomerates in the country.
My mother walked out from the French doors, wrapping a warm, cashmere shawl around my shoulders. "They're growing so fast, Evelyn."
"They look just like Dad when he's chasing a market trend," I laughed, leaning against her.
My father walked up from the garden, lifting little Henry onto his shoulders with an ease that defied his age. He looked up at me, his eyes filled with the quiet, unbreakable pride of a patriarch who had protected his own.
"The Q2 reports came in from the North Atlantic division, Evelyn," my father said, a knowing smile playing on his lips. "The board is calling it the most successful expansion in the decade. They're calling you the Iron Queen of logistics."
