Chapter 6 - A New Dawn (Happily Ever After)

Six months later.

The summer sun shone brightly over the lush green gardens of the Moretti estate in East Hampton. The cool Atlantic ocean breeze rustled the leaves of the towering oak trees, carrying with it the sound of sweet, ringing laughter.

In the center of the manicured lawn, a giant wooden playground—complete with swings, a slide, and a tiny playhouse painted bright blue—had been built.

Annie, now four years old, was running through the sprinklers in a bright yellow sundress, her bare feet kicking up water droplets that glittered like diamonds in the sunlight. Her cheeks were rosy, her dark hair tied up in twin pigtails, and her face beamed with pure, unbridled happiness.

On the wrap-around veranda of the main mansion, Ruth Bennett sat in a comfortable rocking chair, sipping fresh lemonade. Her health had been completely restored, her cheeks full and healthy, the dark circles of fatigue and heart disease entirely gone. Beside her sat Mrs. Gable, chatting happily about recipes for Annie’s upcoming birthday party.

Marco Rossi stood near the edge of the terrace, dressed in a relaxed polo shirt rather than his usual tactical gear. He watched Annie playing with a gentle, proud smile. The threat of violence had vanished from their lives; the Moretti family had been completely cleansed of its dark elements, transitioning its vast resources into legitimate global enterprises, healthcare foundations, and charitable trusts for underprivileged children.

Suddenly, the heavy glass doors opened, and Aleandro stepped out onto the patio.

He was dressed in linen trousers and a simple white shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. The cold, terrifying mob boss was nowhere to be seen. In his eyes was a warmth and peace that no amount of money or power could ever buy.

"Aleandro!" Annie called out the moment she saw him.

She stopped running, turned, and raced across the lawn as fast as her small legs could carry her.

Aleandro walked down the marble steps, dropping to one knee on the soft grass with open arms. Annie threw herself into his embrace, wrapping her small arms tightly around his neck, getting his shirt soaking wet.

"Look what I drew for you today!" Annie squealed happily, pulling a folded piece of paper from her pocket and proudly holding it up.

Aleandro took the paper and unfolded it carefully. It was a colorful crayon drawing. In the middle was a big house with a bright blue door. Standing in front of the house were three figures holding hands: a little girl, an old woman with gray hair, and a tall man in a dark suit with a big heart drawn on his chest.

Above the tall man, written in shaky, four-year-old handwriting, were the words: MY DADDY.

Aleandro stared at the drawing, his throat catching, a wave of profound emotion washing over him. He looked up into the bright, innocent brown eyes of his daughter—the little girl who had saved him from a lifetime of darkness.

"Do you like it, Daddy?" she asked softly, touching his cheek.

"I love it, Annie," Aleandro said, his voice thick with emotion. He pulled her close, kissing her forehead softly. "It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen."

Ruth looked down from the veranda, smiling warmly with tears of complete happiness in her eyes, knowing that her daughter Elena was looking down from heaven, finally at peace.

Aleandro lifted Annie up onto his shoulders, her joyful laughter echoing across the sunny estate toward the ocean, as they walked together into a bright, safe, and beautiful future.
