CHAPTER 1 The wedding reception was in full swing.
The wedding reception was in full swing.
Guests laughed.Music played.
Champagne glasses sparkled beneath the chandeliers.
At the center of it all stood the groom.
A crystal glass raised in his hand.
Ready for a toast.
Then suddenly—
"STOP!"
A voice echoed across the ballroom.
Heads turned.
A maid came running through the crowd.
Her face filled with panic.
The groom looked confused.
Before anyone could react, she lunged forward.
SMASH!
The glass flew from his hand and shattered across the floor.
Gasps erupted throughout the hall.
The music stopped.
The entire ballroom froze.
The groom stared at the broken glass.
Then at the maid.
His face turned red with anger.
"What are you doing, idiot?"
The guests murmured nervously.
The bride looked shocked.
The maid struggled to catch her breath.
Then pointed directly at the drink.
"You can't drink that."
The groom frowned.
"What are you talking about?"
The maid looked toward the bride.
Then back at him.
Her voice trembled.
"Your fiancée mixed something into it."
The room exploded with whispers.
The bride immediately stepped forward.
"That's ridiculous!"
The groom looked between them.
Confused.
The maid shook her head.
"I'm telling the truth."
The bride laughed nervously.
"She's lying."
Then suddenly—
A phone appeared in the maid's hand.
The crowd fell silent.
The maid unlocked it.
Then pressed play.
A tense, suspenseful melody seemed to fill the room.
The screen showed security footage.
The guests leaned closer.
On the video, a hand could be seen picking up the groom's glass.
Then secretly pouring a small substance into the drink.
The ballroom gasped.
The groom's eyes widened.
The footage continued.
The camera angle shifted.
Revealing the person's face.
The bride.
Silence.
Absolute silence.
The bride's face lost all color.
The phone slipped from her hand.
Several guests stepped backward.
The groom couldn't believe what he was seeing.
His hands began shaking.
The maid lowered the phone.
The truth was undeniable.
The bride opened her mouth.
But no words came out.
The groom stared at the shattered glass on the floor.
Then at the maid.
Then back at the screen.
Finally, he looked at the woman who had just risked everything to stop him.
His voice barely worked.
"You..."
The maid remained silent.
The groom felt a chill run through his body.
Just minutes earlier he had been seconds away from drinking from that glass.
Seconds away. Then he looked directly at the maid.
Tears filled his eyes.
And in a voice filled with shock, he whispered:
"You saved my life."
The ballroom remained frozen.
Because everyone knew one thing.
If the maid had arrived even a few seconds later...
The wedding would have ended very differently.
