Chapter 2: The Brother No One Recognized

Adrian Kane crossed the entrance in seconds.
The crowd parted instinctively.
Not because they recognized him.
Because they felt his anger.
He dropped to his knees beside Sophia.
"Sophia."
His voice cracked.
Instantly, he removed his jacket and wrapped it around her shoulders.
Then he began checking her injuries.
Her wrist.
Her elbow.
Her shoulder.
His hands were shaking.
Not the hands of a powerful executive.
The hands of a terrified brother.
"My arm hurts," Sophia whispered.
Something dark flashed across Adrian's face.
Slowly, he stood.
The entrance suddenly felt much colder.
"What happened?"
Nobody answered.
Vanessa folded her arms confidently.
"She caused a scene."
Adrian stared at her.
Then at the wheelchair lying on its side.
Then at the scuff mark from Vanessa's heel.
His expression hardened.
"You kicked her."
Vanessa laughed.
"Please. Don't be dramatic."
Wrong answer.
A hotel employee quietly approached Adrian.
The young valet looked terrified.
But he spoke.
"I saw it, sir."
The entire crowd froze.
The valet pointed at Vanessa.
"She knocked her out of the chair."
Vanessa's confidence wavered.
Only slightly.
Then Tyler Holloway finally arrived.
Expensive suit.
Arrogant smile.
The kind of man who assumed problems disappeared when he walked into a room.
He stepped beside Vanessa and looked Adrian up and down.
"Is there a problem here?"
Adrian turned toward him.
For the first time, Tyler noticed something strange.
Several hotel managers had suddenly appeared.
And all of them looked nervous.
Very nervous.
As if they had just realized exactly who Adrian Kane was.
