Chapter 5 - The Fall of the Valenti Empire

The sun had not yet risen over the Jersey hills when six armored vehicles tore through the iron gates of the Valenti compound in Alpine, New Jersey.
The assault was not a subtle, quiet infiltration. It was a thunderstorm of heavy steel and unrelenting force.
Alessandro led the charge himself, standing in the open hatch of the lead vehicle, flanked by Frankie Varga and thirty of the most hardened enforcers from the Brooklyn and Queens territories.
The Valenti mercenaries, caught off guard by the sheer velocity and ferocity of the attack, scattered within minutes. The outer guard posts were dismantled before they could even sound the main alarm.
Inside the grand marble foyer of the Alpine mansion, Don Carmine Valenti stood behind a barricade of overturned leather couches, holding a gold-plated revolver in his shaking hands. He was an old man—sixty-five years old, with thin gray hair and a face lined with decades of greed and ruthlessness.
The grand front doors were blown off their hinges by a controlled breach charge.
Smoke rolled into the foyer, followed by the heavy, rhythmic footsteps of Alessandro Moretti.
"MORETTI!" Valenti screamed, firing three wild shots into the smoke. "You think you can come into my house?! I have three hundred men in the city! I will burn your shipping lines to the ground!"
Alessandro stepped through the haze, completely unbothered by the bullets that had embedded themselves in the doorframe behind him. He carried no rifle—only his custom sidearm held loosely at his side.
"Your three hundred men in the city surrendered twenty minutes ago, Carmine," Alessandro said, his voice terrifyingly calm in the silent mansion. "Frankie took your docks. Dominic took your storage facilities in Newark. You have nothing left except that gun in your hand."
Valenti’s jaw worked silently as he backed up against the marble staircase, his golden gun trembling so violently it rattled against his knuckles.
"You... you broke the code, Alessandro!" Valenti choked out, his eyes wide with desperate terror. "You destroyed a whole family for what?! A seamstress?! A beggar's child?!"
Alessandro walked slowly across the blood-stained marble, stopping three feet away from the old man.
He reached out, grabbed the barrel of Valenti's gold gun, and twisted it out of his hands with a single, effortless motion, tossing it onto the floorboards.
"Her name is Clara," Alessandro said, his voice dropping into a quiet, lethal register. "And her daughter’s name is Emma. They are the family of a loyal soldier who gave his life for my syndicate."
"They're nobodies!" Valenti shrieked.
"They are my family now," Alessandro corrected him softly.
He pulled a small sheet of blue paper from his coat pocket—the crumpled laundry receipt that Julian had written three days ago.
He smoothed it out and pinned it to Valenti’s lapel with a gold pocket pin.
"You wrote that she was my only weakness, Carmine," Alessandro murmured, staring directly into the old man's dying eyes. "You were right about one thing. If anyone ever touches them again, I will tear this entire city down to the bedrock."
A single shot rang out through the grand foyer, echoing off the high, vaulted ceilings before dying away into the morning silence.

Alessandro turned his back on the fallen boss, stepping over the ruined furniture as his men moved in to clear the rest of the compound.
"Clean the house, Frankie," Alessandro ordered, pulling his phone from his pocket as he walked out into the crisp morning air. "And call the estate. Tell Clara to have breakfast ready. I'm coming home."
