Chapter 5 - The Purge of Boston

Marcus’s eyes flared with desperation. He lunged for his concealed weapon, screaming to his two guards, "Kill them!"

BANG! BANG!

Before Marcus's guards could even clear their holsters, Harold and my men in the shadows executed them with surgical precision. They collapsed to the Persian rug instantly.

Marcus dropped to his knees, his gun sliding across the floor toward my desk. He looked up at me, his face pale, covered in a cold sweat.

"Lucas... please!" Marcus begged, holding up his blood-stained hands. "We were like brothers! Your father trusted me! It was just business! The O'Sullivans pushed me into a corner—"

"My father trusted a snake," I said coldly, walking around the desk and stepping directly in front of him. "And my brother died because I was too blind to see you slithering in my home."

"I have money! Millions in Swiss accounts!" Marcus babbled, tears leaking down his cheeks. "I'll give you everything! Just let me leave Boston! You'll never see me again!"

I looked over at Clara. She didn't look away. She stood her ground, watching the man who had terrified her for seven years finally break into pathetic pieces.

"Harold," I said quietly.

"Sir?"

"Take him to the basement. Clean up his network across the city by sunrise. I want every asset tied to Marcus seized, every traitor purged, and his name erased from Boston completely."

"With pleasure, boss," Harold said, grabbing Marcus by his collar and dragging him screaming out of the room.

As the heavy oak doors shut, ending Marcus’s pathetic cries, the study returned to absolute silence.

The war was over. The traitor had been exposed. The ghost that had haunted my organization for a decade was finally destroyed.

I walked across the room to Clara, reaching out to steady her as her hands trembled slightly.

"It's over, Clara," I whispered, pulling her gently into my arms. "You don't have to hide anymore."

May you like

Clara buried her face in my chest, weeping silently—releasing seven long years of fear, loneliness, and survival. "I was so scared, Lucas... every single day, I was so scared for her."

"I know," I murmured, kissing the top of her head. "But you're home now. Both of you."
