Chapter 7: The True Vow

The wedding was held in the exact same white garden, under the same late-afternoon sun. But there were no forty-seven corporate guests pretending to mourn. There were no champagne glasses used as status symbols.
There was only a small circle of true friends: Mrs. Abigail Lawson sat in the front row, smiling softly next to Eleanor Ross. Jason, the event coordinator, was standing near the back, wearing a genuine, relaxed smile for the first time in his career.
Caleb stood beside his father as the best man, wearing a tiny version of Anthony’s tailored suit. Lily stood beside Sarah as the flower girl, her hair braided beautifully with white dogwood blossoms.
As the minister asked for the rings, Caleb stepped forward. He didn't just hand the gold bands to his father; he reached out and took Sarah’s hand first, looking up at her with his mother’s bright eyes.
"Thank you for choosing us, Sarah," Caleb whispered.
Sarah knelt down in her white wedding gown, ignoring the grass stains on the silk, and pulled both Caleb and Lily into a tight, fierce embrace. "I’ll always choose you, Caleb. Every single day."
Anthony knelt down with them, his long arms wrapping around his complete family, the marble fountain behind them singing a song of renewal and peace.

The millionaire had sworn he would only marry the woman his son chose, and in the end, the boy hadn't just chosen a stepmother. He had chosen the anchor that would keep them all safe against the storm, proving that the greatest fortune a family can ever possess isn't measured in billions—it is found in the simple, unpretentiously brave hand of a person who loves you exactly as you are.
