Chapter 5 - The Marchetti Triad

Six months later.
The summer sun shone brightly over the private gardens of the Marchetti Estate. The air was filled with the sound of cheerful laughter, splashing water, and tiny feet running across the soft green grass.
Leo and Sam were chasing a golden retriever puppy near the marble fountain, while Clara sat in Noelle’s lap on the terrace, giggling as Noelle tickled her stomach.
Noelle wore a light floral sun dress, her hair glowing in the sunlight. Over the last six months, she had officially legally reclaimed her maternal rights, her name cleared, her life restored. But she hadn't moved out of the estate.
Because the estate had become her home.
Heavy footsteps sounded behind her on the stone terrace. Damian walked out, wearing a relaxed white linen shirt with the sleeves rolled up, carrying two glasses of iced tea.
He handed one to Noelle and sat beside her on the stone bench.
"Leo tried to feed his broccoli to the dog again," Damian reported, a genuine, warm smile breaking across his handsome face.
"I saw," Noelle chuckled, resting her head lightly against Damian’s shoulder. "He gets his stubbornness from you."
"He gets his intelligence from you," Damian countered softly, reaching down to take her free hand into his.
Over the last six months, what had started as a shared tragedy had blossomed into something deep, powerful, and undeniable. Damian had given her safety, justice, and her children back; Noelle had brought warmth, light, and a heart back into his cold, lonely world.
Damian shifted, pulling a small velvet box from his pocket. He didn't make a grand, theatrical speech. He didn't need to.
He opened the box, revealing a stunning ring set with three small, sparkling hazel diamonds—representing the triplets—surrounding a brilliant white center stone.
"Noelle," Damian said, looking deeply into her eyes with a devotion that made her heart soar. "You brought life back into this house. You healed my children, and you healed me. Will you make this family complete? Will you marry me?"
Tears of pure, unadulterated happiness glistened in Noelle’s eyes.
Down in the garden, the three triplets stopped running, looking up toward the terrace.
"Mama! Dada!" Sam yelled, waving his tiny hands in the air.
Noelle looked down at her beautiful children, then back at the man who had fought the world to protect them.

"Yes," Noelle whispered, her voice overflowing with love. "Yes, Damian. Absolutely."
Damian slid the ring onto her finger and pulled her into a deep, passionate kiss as the children's laughter echoed through the sunlit garden—a family once broken, now unbroken forever.
