Chapter 6 - A New Dawn

One year later.

The sound of the piano filled the bright, spacious living room of our new home in Lincoln Park. It wasn't a sad melody, but a light, beautiful song that seemed to dance through the open windows, carried by the warm spring breeze.

Danny was sitting at the grand piano, his fingers moving gracefully over the keys. On his ears were two small, state-of-the-art hearing devices, completely invisible unless you knew where to look.

He paused, turning his head toward the glass doors leading to the garden.

"Tessa!" he called out, his voice clear, loud, and full of joy. "I can hear the high notes now! The doctor was right, the adjustment worked!"

I stood in the doorway, a tray of lemonade in my hands, my eyes filling with happy tears. "I hear it, Danny! It sounds beautiful!"

From behind me, a pair of strong, familiar arms wrapped around my waist, pulling me back against a warm, solid chest. I leaned into the embrace, feeling the steady beat of Salvatore's heart against my back.

I set the tray down and turned in his arms, looking up into his dark, peaceful eyes.

He is playing your favorite song, I signed to him.

Salvatore smiled, his hand reaching down to gently touch my stomach, where a tiny, beautiful life was just beginning to grow.

I do not need to hear the music, Tessa, he signed back, his fingers warm and soft against my skin. I have your voice. And that is the only melody I will ever need.

He leaned down, pressing his lips to mine in a soft, lingering kiss that tasted of sweet rain and new beginnings. The silence that had once been our armor was now our peace—a beautiful, quiet world that we had built together, where every look, every touch, and every sign was a promise of a love that would never be silenced.
