Chapter 6 - The Rival Strike

The tranquility shattered on the seventh day.

An explosion rocked the penthouse. The windows didn't shatter—they were reinforced—but the building groaned.

"Get to the panic room!" Elias roared, grabbing me and the twins.

He didn't hesitate. He bundled us into the reinforced safe room behind the study. As the heavy steel door hissed shut, I heard the gunfire start in the hallway. It wasn't Marcus. This was a professional hit.

"Stay quiet," Elias commanded, checking his pistol. He looked at me, his eyes burning with intensity. "If I don't come back, use the secondary exit. There’s a car waiting in the alley. Drive, don't stop, and don't look back."

"Elias, no!"

He leaned in, kissing my forehead—quick, hard, and desperate—before disappearing into the smoke.
