Chapter 3 – The Empire Begins to Fall

The hearing was suspended for one hour.

When the courtroom reopened...

It was full.

Television crews lined every wall.

News channels were broadcasting live.

Outside, thousands of people had gathered.

Inside, Marcus stood once again.

"Your Honor," he said, "the abuse was only one part of Mr. Vance's deception."

Julian's attorney sighed.

"What now?"

Marcus smiled.

"The money."

He projected financial records onto a large screen.

Wire transfers.

Shell companies.

Hidden offshore accounts.

Millions of dollars disappearing over six years.

Judge Whitman leaned forward.

"These transactions were never disclosed."

Marcus nodded.

"Because they were illegal."

Then another witness entered.

A middle-aged man in a dark suit.

Julian immediately froze.

"No..."

Marcus introduced him.

"This is Daniel Cross."

Former Chief Financial Officer of Vance Medical.

Daniel raised his hand and took the oath.

Then he looked directly at Julian.

"I resigned because I refused to keep committing fraud."

The room exploded with whispers.

Daniel spent the next two hours explaining everything.

Fake suppliers.

False invoices.

Insurance fraud.

Bribed inspectors.

Destroyed evidence.

Marcus revealed emails.

Internal memos.

Bank transfers.

Every document matched Daniel's testimony.

Julian's lawyer looked defeated.

Nora sat motionless.

Finally she whispered...

"You lied to me too."

Julian reached for her hand.

She pulled away.

"I thought you were successful."

She looked at him with tears in her eyes.

"You were just a criminal."

Outside the courthouse...

The company's stock price collapsed.

Investors fled.

Banks froze corporate accounts.

Federal investigators arrived before the hearing even ended.

One by one...

Members of Julian's executive team accepted plea deals.

No one wanted to protect him anymore.

By sunset...

The billionaire who once controlled everything...

Owned almost nothing.
