EPILOGUE: LIGHT AFTER THE RAIN

Daniel stood motionless at the threshold of the boardroom. Facing Margaret’s venomous, triumphant smile and the cold glares of the four board members, he didn't flinch. Instead, a faint, pitying smile played on his lips.

"Do you really think you are always one step ahead, Margaret?" Daniel walked in unhurriedly. The rhythmic click of his leather shoes against the marble floor broke the suffocating tension in the room.

"Don't bother playing the tough guy, Daniel," Margaret replied coldly, tapping the stack of documents. "The game is over. By tomorrow morning, your reputation will be nothing but ashes."

"I agree. The game is over," Daniel stopped directly across from her. He didn't even glance at the papers on the table. Instead, he calmly raised his hand and pressed a button on his smartwatch. "But not for me."

Thud!

The double doors of the boardroom were pushed open violently once again. But it wasn't Arthur who walked in. It was a squad of white-collar crime special forces and federal investigators, led by the city's Chief Prosecutor. Walking right behind them was Arthur, holding a laptop that was actively playing an audio file.

Margaret’s face drained of color as she snapped up from her seat. "What is the meaning of this? This is an internal Vance Global meeting! You have no right—"

"Mrs. Margaret Vance," the chief prosecutor stepped forward, presenting an official arrest warrant. "You are under arrest for conspiracy to commit murder by poisoning, stock market manipulation, and attempted grand larceny of a citizen's assets. We have full evidence."

"Ridiculous! What evidence?" Margaret roared, turning to the four board members for support. But at that exact moment, the massive projector screen in the boardroom automatically flared to life.

Dr. Evans’s trembling yet crystal-clear voice echoed through the room. Every single confession about the "toxic cocktail," the meticulous plot to declare Ava mentally incompetent, and the detailed bank transfers of millions of dollars from Margaret’s secret accounts to Evans's funds was laid bare, word for word.

The four board members turned pale. One of them immediately scrambled to pack his papers, stammering, "I... I knew nothing about this. I rescind my vote on the suspension!" The other three quickly stood up as well, desperately drawing a line between themselves and the powerful woman who, just a minute ago, was their "queen."

Margaret staggered backward, her luxury leather chair nearly flipping over. Her heavily made-up face contorted with horror and humiliation. As two officers stepped forward to handcuff her, she glared at Daniel, hissing through her teeth, "You... you planned this all along!"

Daniel looked straight into her eyes, his voice as cold as winter ice:

"You were right, Margaret. You always said that the truth belongs to the person who speaks loudest. But that is only when justice is silent. Today, justice speaks for Ava."

As Margaret was dragged away amidst the chaos, the media outside the building erupted—not with news of Daniel’s "breakdown," but with the spectacular downfall of the criminal empire of Margaret Vance.

Two Years Later...

The bright morning sun streamed through the large glass windows of a beachside villa on the outskirts of the city—a real home, not a glass cage built by the Vance corporation.

Crisp, joyful laughter echoed from the garden. Ava was standing on the lush green lawn, hand-watering a patch of wild roses. Thanks to St. Jude’s rigorous detox regimen and Daniel’s unwavering care over the past two years, her legs had fully recovered, and her eyes had regained their vibrant, soulful spark. No more psychiatric drugs. No more nightmares.

Daniel stepped out from the porch, holding two glasses of fresh juice. Wearing a simple linen shirt, his face no longer carried the exhausted, sharp edge of corporate warfare; there was only infinite tenderness reserved for the woman before him.

He walked up, wrapping his arms gently around her waist from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder.

"What are you thinking about, my love?" Daniel whispered, kissing her neck.

Ava leaned back completely against his chest, inhaling his familiar scent that always brought her an absolute sense of safety. She looked out at the vast ocean before them and smiled.

"I was just thinking about how far we’ve come. And thank you, Daniel, for never giving up on me."

Daniel turned her around to face him. He intertwined his fingers with hers, where her wedding ring caught the brilliant sunlight.

"It was you who gave me the strength to fight, Ava. From now on, your world will know nothing but peace."

They shared a deep, sweet kiss, filled with hope. Out in the open sea, the waves gently caressed the shore, as if singing a lullaby for a brand-new beginning—where the darkness had completely receded, leaving only love and eternal freedom.
