Chapter 6 - A New Dawn for the Moretti Family

Three months later, the Moretti estate was bathed in bright, golden spring sunlight. The dark clouds and rain of that terrifying winter night were long gone, replaced by blooming red roses and warm Mediterranean breezes.

There were no three hundred calculating mobsters present today.

In the private garden behind the mansion, a small, intimate ceremony was taking place. Only true loyalty filled the seats: trusted lieutenants, close family, and the staff who had served the estate for decades.

Sophia stood under a canopy of white orchids, wearing an exquisite lace wedding gown that trailed gracefully over the green lawn. She looked radiant, her eyes shining with pure, unburdened happiness.

Beside her, holding her hand with unwavering warmth, was Aleandro.

Standing right beside the altar, holding a tiny basket filled with rose petals, was four-year-old Emma, wearing a bright yellow princess dress. Her mother, the head housekeeper, sat in the front row, crying tears of joy.

"Do you, Aleandro, take Sophia to be your wedded wife?" the officiant asked.

Aleandro looked at Sophia, his heart fuller than it had ever been in his entire life of darkness and violence. "I do."

"And do you, Sophia, take Aleandro to be your wedded husband?"

Sophia smiled—a bright, genuine, magnificent smile that warmed the cool ocean breeze. "I do."

As the officiant pronounced them husband and wife, the small crowd erupted into warm applause. Aleandro pulled Sophia close, kissing her deeply as the sun broke through the trees, casting a golden light over them both.

After the ceremony, as guests gathered near the garden fountain, Aleandro walked over to little Emma, kneeling down on one knee so he was at eye level with the child.

He pulled a small velvet box from his pocket and opened it, revealing a delicate gold necklace with a tiny, sapphire-encrusted star.

"For the little girl who saved my life," Aleandro said gently, clasping the necklace around her neck. "From today on, Emma, you and your mother are family. No one in this world will ever harm you."

Emma beamed, touching the shiny star on her chest, and wrapped her small arms around the feared mafia boss's neck. "Thank you, Mr. Aleandro!"

Aleandro stood up, turning to see Sophia walking toward him, holding two glasses of champagne. She handed one to him, her eyes soft with love.

"A toast, my Don?" she teased gently.

Aleandro took the glass, his other arm wrapping securely around her waist, pulling her close against his side where she belonged.

"To the future," Aleandro said, clinking his glass against hers. "And to never keeping secrets under the table again."

Sophia laughed, leaning her head against his shoulder as they looked out over their home—safe, united, and truly unshakeable.
