Chapter 6 - A New Beginning

Two years later, the garden of our estate was transformed. White roses, Sarah’s favorite, bloomed alongside vibrant sunflowers, symbolizing a bright, new future.

A beautiful canopy stood in the center of the lawn.

I stood under the canopy, adjusting my tie, my heart racing with a nervous excitement I hadn't felt in a decade. Marcus stood beside me as my best man, a proud grin on his face.

"You look sharp, boss," Marcus whispered. "And don't worry, the security today is perfect. No uninvited guests."

I laughed, feeling a deep sense of peace. Patricia was currently serving a five-year prison sentence in a state penitentiary, her assets completely frozen, her name ruined forever. She was a distant, faded memory.

The music began to play—a soft, beautiful acoustic melody.

The guests stood. First came Martina and Daniela, now teenagers, dressed in matching lavender bridesmaids' dresses. They walked down the aisle, their faces glowing with pure, unadulterated happiness. They looked at me and beamed, giving me thumbs-up signs.

And then, the bride appeared.

Rosa walked down the aisle, escorted by her elder brother. She wore a simple, elegant off-the-shoulder white gown. Her hair was styled in soft curls, adorned with a few delicate wildflowers. She looked absolutely breathtaking.

As she reached the altar, her brother placed her hand in mine.

"Take care of her," he whispered.

"With my life," I replied.

We turned to face the minister. I looked into Rosa’s eyes—the same eyes that had watched over my daughters, the same eyes that had stood strong against betrayal, the same eyes that now looked at me with unconditional love.

"We are gathered here today to unite two souls who found each other through the darkest of times," the minister began.

When it came time for the vows, I took Rosa’s hands in mine.

"Rosa," I said, my voice steady and filled with emotion. "I once believed that a home was made of bricks, security systems, and status. But you showed me that a home is built on trust, loyalty, and love. You saved my daughters, and in doing so, you saved me. I promise to cherish you, respect you, and love you for the rest of my days. You are my partner, my protector, and my wife."

Tears of joy rolled down Rosa's cheeks. "David," she whispered, her voice trembling but clear. "I loved this family from the moment I walked through these doors years ago. I never dreamed that I would be standing here today as your wife. You have given me a life filled with love, and a family I cherish more than my own breath. I promise to stand by your side, to laugh with you in the light, and to hold your hand in the dark. Forever."

"By the power vested in me," the minister smiled, "I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."

I pulled Rosa close, dipping her slightly as I kissed her. The crowd erupted into cheers and applause. Daniela and Martina ran forward, throwing their arms around both of us, laughing and crying all at once.

We turned to face our friends and family, our hands tightly clasped together.

The storm had passed. The truth had set us free. And standing here, surrounded by the people who mattered most, I knew that our happily ever after had finally, truly begun.
