Chapter 4 - The Fortress Siege

At 2:00 AM, the peaceful silence of the Falcone estate was shattered by a deafening explosion.
Dante’s tactical teams detonated breaching charges along the eastern wall of the compound, creating a massive gap through which three armored SUVs breached at full speed. Smoke grenades filled the courtyard with thick gray haze, blinding the guards stationed on the balconies.
Dante stepped out of his vehicle, firing with terrifying precision. Every shot found its mark as he moved through the courtyard like a force of nature. His men provided suppression fire, cutting down Falcone’s mercenaries before they could assemble a coordinated defense.
Inside the main mansion, Don Carmine Falcone stood in his grand foyer, panicked, as gunshots echoed closer and closer. Silvio Moretti stood beside him, clutching a small metal briefcase containing the antidote vials.
"You said he wouldn't attack tonight!" Falcone yelled, grabbing Silvio by the collar. "You said he’d wait for the deal!"
"He’s insane!" Silvio stammered, his face white with terror. "He doesn't care about the family rules anymore!"
The heavy oak doors of the foyer suddenly blew inward, splinters flying everywhere. Dante stepped through the smoke, blood splattered across his tactical vest, his eyes locked onto Silvio.
Falcone’s personal bodyguards raised their weapons, but Dante fired first, dropping them instantly.
Falcone raised his hands, stepping back slowly. "Dante! Listen to me! This was Silvio’s idea! I was just offering him safe harbor! Take him! Take whatever you want!"
Dante didn't even glance at Falcone. He raised his secondary sidearm and shot Falcone in the leg, sending the rival Don screaming to the floor.
Silvio backed up against the marble staircase, clutching the briefcase against his chest. "Dante... please! I'm your uncle! I raised you after your father died!"
"You betrayed my father," Dante said, his voice terrifyingly quiet as he advanced on his uncle. "You hid my wife and child in my own house like prisoners. And you tried to murder the woman I love."
"I have the antidote!" Silvio screamed, holding the briefcase up like a shield. "If you kill me, you'll never know the combination to the bio-lock! She’ll die in her sleep, Dante!"
Dante stopped three feet away from Silvio. He looked at the briefcase, then directly into his uncle’s eyes.
"You forgot one thing, Silvio," Dante whispered. "I designed that lock system three years ago."
Before Silvio could react, Dante stepped forward, grabbed Silvio’s wrist, and twisted it violently until the bone snapped. Silvio shrieked in agony, dropping the briefcase. Dante caught it before it hit the floor, drew his combat knife, and drove it cleanly through Silvio’s shoulder, pinning him to the wooden wall.
"Where is the secondary key?" Dante growled into his uncle’s ear.

"In my coat..." Silvio wept, completely broken. "In my inner coat pocket..."
Dante reached into the jacket, pulled out a small silver vial and a keycard, then leaned in close. "You will spend the rest of your miserable life in a maximum-security federal facility, Silvio. Because death is too quick for what you did to my daughter."
