Chapter 6 - The Franklin Sun

Six months later.

The morning sun broke beautifully over the hills of Franklin, casting a warm, golden light across the wrap-around porch of our new home. The air was fresh, filled with the clean, sweet scent of Tennessee pine.

The doctors had cleared her of all respiratory issues just last week.

I walked out onto the porch, carrying two cups of coffee, and slipped my arm around Maren’s waist. She looked beautiful, the exhaustion entirely gone from her face, replaced by a deep, radiant peace.

She leaned her head against my shoulder, looking out over the green fields.

"They're growing so fast," she whispered, a soft smile playing on her lips.

"They have their mother’s strength," I said, kissing her forehead.

But as I looked at my wife and my three beautiful children, I didn't care about the justice we had served. I had spent a year living in a lie, believing that power and pride were the things that defined a man. But Maren had shown me that the ultimate power isn't in the corporate towers or the wealth we build.

It's in the quiet roads we walk to bring our family home.
