Chapter 5 - Unmasking the Mogul

Christopher’s security team rushed forward to grab Ethan, but several high-profile guests and reporters blocked their path, shouting for Christopher to let his son speak.

I took that exact moment to dash toward the AV control station near the side of the stage. The sound engineer looked at me in shock as I shoved the flash drive into the main broadcast console and hit PLAY.

Suddenly, the massive LED screens hanging above the stage flickered to life.

The image of Eleanor Vance-Hale filled the twenty-foot screens. The entire room went dead silent.

"If you are watching this," Eleanor's recorded voice echoed through the speakers, translated by an automated subtitle feed we had encoded overnight, "it means my husband, Christopher Hale, has attempted to erase my son's existence and steal Hale Global."

Christopher turned pale as ash. "Turn that off! Turn it off right now!" he screamed at the technicians, but the console was locked.

On the screen, Eleanor began signing fluently, her words displayed in massive white text for the whole world to read:

Christopher has systematically forged my signatures. He has threatened my life and isolated my deaf son, Ethan, hoping the world would dismiss him as incompetent. All original stock certificates leaving 80% of the company to Ethan are sealed in document vault #409.

The ballroom erupted into chaos. Reporters were shouting questions, camera lenses zooming in on Christopher’s horrified face.

Ethan walked directly up onto the stage. He pulled the crisp, gold-embossed legal documents from his jacket and held them high above his head for every camera in the room to record.

"These are the original non-forged documents!" Ethan proclaimed, his voice steady, proud, and completely devoid of fear. "Signed by my mother, witnessed by state authorities, proving that Christopher Hale holds zero legal authority over this company or my life!"

Christopher stepped toward Ethan, his fists clenched, his face twisted in psychotic fury. "You little ungrateful brat! You are nothing! You hear me? You are a broken cripple who can't even function without help!"

I stepped up onto the stage next to Ethan, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with him, looking Christopher dead in the eye.

"He is not broken, Mr. Hale," I said into the podium microphone, my voice ringing out across the room. "He is the rightful heir. And you are a thief."

Ethan looked at his father one last time, raising his hands in front of the roaring crowd and the live news cameras. He signed three simple words:

Your time is up.

At that exact moment, the heavy oak doors at the back of the ballroom were pushed open. Four uniformed police officers alongside federal investigators from the Securities and Exchange Commission marched down the red carpet, handcuffs drawn.

"Christopher Hale," the lead officer announced over the noise. "You are under arrest for grand corporate fraud, forgery, and embezzlement. Step away from the podium and put your hands behind your back."

The smug billionaire who had mocked his son in a luxury restaurant just days ago collapsed to his knees, his hands trembling as the steel cuffs clicked around his wrists. As the police dragged him away under the blinding flashes of a hundred cameras, he looked back at Ethan—and saw not a helpless boy, but a powerful man standing tall.
